You're probably wondering What this group is... Ok... All this is covered in the early Journal/Blog posts, but... We are a group for machines who have human first names (or that's the short version, so see below for all the details and exceptions :-) )... For this purpose, a "machine" is: - Real actual world machines. Something really made by people that makes "work" easier is always considered OK. - "Living machine" artworks, as long as they basically still look like a machine are generally considered OK. - Robots who are obviously really robots. If a robot is too indistinguishable from a human being, we reserve the right to decline the submission (To avoid confusing watchers/members). - We don't take total humanizations of machines cause there are plenty of other groups for this on DA. - In general, we want to see the entire machine and not just the name/label... But this is a grey area and we may take these. If possible we also want more than just a screenshot of a machine's display. And For this purpose a "name" is: - If is just a first name and a real human being somewhere has this name, the name is good for this group. - If the name looks like one someone might very likely name a person, the name is quite probably good for this group. - If a name strongly implies a machine is alive and seems to imply a human gender then the name is probably good for this group. - If you're trying to pass the named item off as "alien" (e.g. in the sci-fi sense), and the name really does seem to be a name for something that is alive, then we are still strongly considering this as being as OK. - Names that are just strings of common nouns/verbs/whatever that imply no life at all aren't generally accepted (e.g. "The Backbreaker" or "Journey to The Stars" or "SS Guppie") - I personally don't want to take full names that are named after a real person, but I will take otherwise OK submissions with those names. - Such names used as company names, product names, service names are all good. If you are a private individual who has named something you own, then we'd really prefer if you make a big deal about this in the title and/or description (But if not, we'll probably still take her) We take visual art mediums in this group (Photos, drawings, paintings, animation--- anything allong those lines) |
Anyway, Sheila is a name name by the way...
